Modern Methods of Construction (MMC)
Back to ServicesMCD Fire Engineering’s Managing Director, Mark McDaid, has worked extensively on projects that involve Modern Methods of Construction, such as Modular Construction (see Rockbrook Development) in addition to dozens of public school buildings in Australia that used and adopted off-site modular construction.
This method of construction requires a lot of pre-planning and detailed design around junctions, firestopping, fire protection and co-ordination of building services between separate parts of the building pre- and post-install on the site.
Having the various parts of the building fabricated on site presents many benefits to the entire design and build team especially in a cleaner, more organised production setting, that allows easier and more efficient quality control (and pre-site inspections from a fire safety perspective) of the buildings and their components as part of the overall fire safety strategy for the building.
